Where vidIQ is stronger
Research at scale. vidIQ has been indexing YouTube for years and its keyword tool shows search volume and competition for a phrase. VidTraffic has no keyword volume tool; it reads the search terms that already bring viewers to your own videos instead, which is narrower.
It lives where you browse. The vidIQ extension puts numbers next to every video on YouTube itself. VidTraffic is a separate web app — nothing is injected into YouTube.

It is not a replacement for vidIQ's keyword research, which VidTraffic does not do.
Does vidIQ have an MCP server too?
Yes. vidIQ launched one that connects Claude, ChatGPT and other clients to its data, and most calls use vidIQ credits. VidTraffic's MCP server is free, is signed into with Google OAuth rather than an API key, and can also add to your VidTraffic plan and competitor list with your permission.
Is VidTraffic a browser extension like vidIQ?
No. VidTraffic is a web app at vidtraffic.com plus an MCP server for AI agents. It does not inject anything into YouTube pages.
Can I use VidTraffic and vidIQ together?
Yes. They read your channel through separate Google permissions and do not interfere with each other. Many creators would research in one and write and score the package in the other.
